| A Timeline of the Journey So Far |
| 1981 | Formed in 1981, founder Michael Harth provided service for three Del Mar restaurants and Scripps Green hospital in San Diego, CA. |
| 1993 | By 1993, Sunset was operating 20 locations and had incorporated
to become Sunset Valet Service, Inc. A sister company called Sunset Parking Management was formed to operate self-park locations. This company quickly grew to 25 locations over a five year period. |
| 2000 | With the acquisition of Parking Company of America San Diego (PCA),
22 locations were added in downtown San Diego. Sunset Valet Service, Sunset Parking Management and PCA merged to form Sunset Parking Service, LLC. |
| 2008 | Over the years, Sunset has become one of San
Diego's largest locally owned parking management companies with
over 600 employees. In 2008, Sunset merged with LAZ Parking, one of the fastest growing parking companies in the United States. |
| 2009 | Now partnered with LAZ and Vinci,
Sunset continues to grow our San Diego roots, currently operating
over 150 locations with a client retention rate of 95%.
We can proudly say that we still manage our first three locations,
started on our first day back in 1981. These include The Brigantine
Del Mar, Jake's
Del Mar, and The Poseidon. Today, Sunset Parking is part of a strong national parking organization with regional offices in San Diego (Sunset), Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, New York, New Jersey, Baltimore, Washington DC, Miami, Los Angeles and Dallas. Sunset/LAZ now manages over 1,000 locations in 20 states, 95 cities, and maintains gross revenues in excess of $325 million annually. LAZ Parking is also affiliated with Vinci Park, the largest parking
operator in the world, with over 1,300,000 parking spaces under management. |
